How to Rank Fantasy Players - Gut Feel Fantasy Football Rankings

If you're looking for how to rank fantasy players I've got five methods for you to consider: ranking fantasy players by gut feel, tweak expert rankings method, player history method, league to team to player method, and average fantasy points method. This article details how to rank fantasy football players by gut feel. I just want to state from the get go that the gut feel method is my least favorite way of ranking fantasy football players. It is the most subjective, does not place a numerical value on the players listed, does not project fantasy points for the players listed, and relies upon the opinion of just one person(that being the person creating the rankings). The one thing many people will find attractive about ranking fantasy players using the gut feel method is that it takes the least amount of time to develop.

When you rank fantasy players using the gut feel method the first thing you will need to do is find a list of active players for the
upcoming season. You may want to grab existing position by position cheat sheets posted online by somebody else or from a web site providing fantasy football information. That way when you rank fantasy football players the list of players you start with will at least be somewhat close to the final order that you will place them in. Make sure the list of fantasy players you start with is separated by position. Put the list of fantasy football players into a spreadsheet.

How to rank fantasy players - 7 more steps to go:
Start with one position and go through the list pulling out the players you consider to be fantasy football studs or 1st tier fantasy football players.

Within the same position go through the list again and pull out the fantasy football players you consider to be 2nd tier.

Go through the list a third time pulling out the fantasy football players you consider to be 3rd tier.

Continue this process until you reach or exceed the required number of players that you need to have on your cheat sheet(see the article listed below called "How to Create Your Own Fantasy Football Draft Cheat Sheet" to learn how to determine the number of players you should have at each position when ranking fantasy players).

Now go through and rank fantasy players within each tier based on your fantasy football knowledge and gut feel.

Combine the tiers from first to last and you'll have your cheat sheet complete for the given position.

Now start the entire process over to rank fantasy football players at another position. Keep doing this until you rank fantasy players for all of the postions your league requires(some leagues require tight ends while others don't and some leagues use team defenses while others use individual defensive players).
