Your main goal in reading these fantasy football drafting tips is to understand the thought process that I go through each round. You will then be able to develop a thought process geared towards your fantasy football league's rules and scoring system. Notice I weigh my options each round, and then I consider the effect each option will have on the rest of the draft.

Fantasy draft tips - Round 1
Draft a stud RB.

Fantasy football  draft tips - Rounds 2 & 3
Draft another RB and the best WR available. This is a safe route to take and allows you to be flexible the rest of the draft. Do not take a QB at this point because you have to wait 20-22 picks before you pick again. It's highly likely that you'd be looking at 3rd or 4th tier players if you waited until late in the fourth round to select your 1st WR.

Could also draft 2 more RBs, but then you must take 2 WRs in the fourth & fifth rounds and you must take 2 QBs(platoon system) in the sixth & seventh rounds. You will be very strong at RB. Bye weeks will not be an issue. An injury to a RB will not harm your team. You will also have a player to use as trade bait if you are extremely weak at another position. The risk you're taking is having your number one WR be a 3rd or 4th tier player.

Fantasy draft tips by round - Rounds 4 & 5
If you took a RB in each of the first three rounds, you must take 2 WRs at this point. Otherwise you have two options:

Take 2 more WRs. Plan on platooning QBs if you make this decision. You will be solid at RB and WR. If you play the match-ups right, platooning QBs can be just as effective as having a top 8 QB.

Take a WR and either a 2nd tier QB or a stud TE. Just keep in mind that you won't be able to secure your last starting WR until at least the last pick of round 6.

Fantasy football draft tips by round - Rounds 6 & 7
If you don't have a QB at this point, take 2 of them and use a platoon system. Otherwise you need to take a WR and either a stud TE or a reserve RB.

Fantasy football draft tips - Rounds 8 & higher
If you still need a starting WR, take one in round 8.
