How to Create Your Own Fantasy Football Draft Cheat Sheet

Your goal walking into the fantasy football draft room is to have a better fantasy football draft cheat sheet than the rest of your league. Now there is no such thing as a perfect fantasy cheat sheet. There is guesswork involved with every single method used to rank players. You can however minimize the guesswork by developing a baseline ranking list for each position. Then you can take all of the fantasy football information and knowledge you have at your disposal and shape your baseline rankings into your final fantasy football cheat sheet. You can arrive at your draft ready to dominate from start to finish. All you need is a well thought out draft cheat sheet. Pick a method to develop your rankings, arm yourself with fantasy football knowledge, and then just make the effort to finalize your plan. Do that and you can be confident in every pick you make at your draft.

Before you even consider putting the time in to create your own
fantasy football draft cheat sheet, you should understand your league rules and scoring system. Ask yourself these questions:

How many teams are in your fantasy football league?
How many players do you have to draft and are there roster requirements for each position?
What are the weekly starting lineup requirements?
What is the scoring format used in your fantasy football league?

With basic league information in hand you can determine how many players you should rank at each position for your fantasy football draft cheat sheet. What I like to do is take the starting lineup requirements for each position and multiply by 2. Then I multiply by 2 again to account for reserves. Then I add 10 to each position just to act as an extra buffer. A quick example:

Let's say you have 12 teams in your fantasy football league and you must start 2 running backs. Multiply 12 by 2 to determine how many running backs will start each week. The result is 24. Then to account for reserves multiply 24 by 2. The result is 48. Then add 10 to 48 just in case running backs go deep in this particular league. The result is 58 and I would probably bump it to 60 just for the heck of it.

So now you know your league rules and you know how many players you need to list for each position. The next step is to develop a baseline fantasy football draft cheat sheet for each position. There are different methods that can accomplish this. I would like to present five such methods plus how to tweak your baseline rankings:
